Senior Citizen Discount

Balaoan  Water District (BWD) implemented its Senior Citizens discount  last  August 12, 2010 in compliance with Republic Act no. 9994 also known as the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010", granting additional benefits and privileges to Senior Citizens further amending Republic Act no. 7432 of 1992 as amended by Republic Act no. 9257 of 2003,.

Under Article 12 on Utility Discount of Section 1, the grant of a minimum of five percent (5%) discount of  the monthly utilization of water and electricity by households with senior citizens requires that the individual meters for the foregoing utilities are registered in the name of the senior citizen residing therein. It is required further that the monthly consumption does not exceed one hundred kilowatt hours (100 kWh) of electricity and thirty cubic meters (30 m3) of water. The privilege is granted per household regardless of the number of senior citizens residing therein. Other conditions of discount availment are: the meter registration should be in the name of the Senior Citizen for a period of one(1) year and the application of discount must be renewed annually.

In the case of DSWD accredited senior citizens centers and residential care institution or group homes that are government-run or organized and operated by non-stock, non-profit domestic corporations, primarily for the purpose of promoting the well-being of abandoned, neglected, unattached or homeless senior citizens, under Section 2, fifty percent (50%) discount will be granted on all electricity, water, telephone consumption for the said center or institution. Such senior citizens centers and residential care or group homes must have been in operation for at least six (6) months and must have a separate meter for said utilities/services.
Interested senior citizens who want to avail the discount may visit our office and  fill-up the application form. They must present the following documentary requirements :
